Attune Systems’ Maestro File Manager is the ideal tool to optimize storage utilization, performance, and costs, while accommodating growth. The Maestro solution can help your organization maximize the value from your file servers and NAS devices in the following ways:

Maximize storage utilization—reclaim storage space. Many enterprises experience utilization rates at only 40 percent. With content growing at variable rates, some shares quickly become full whereas others are nearly empty. By introducing a virtual layer between the clients and the storage devices, Maestro allows underutilized islands of storage, previously distributed among a multitude of servers, to be reclaimed. Increased utilization significantly reduces storage capital expenditures and frees up administrator time to focus on higher-priority tasks.

Maximize storage utilization—combine storage capacity. Administrators can combine small or underutilized storage capacity spread across multiple shares and file servers into one large Maestro Volume Set™ to maximize utilization and simplify access for users. Volume Sets may also be rebalanced to optimize performance.

Automatically grow capacity as needed. When more storage capacity is needed, Dynamic Volume Expansion adds additional shares to a Maestro Volume Set automatically without disrupting users. With this feature, storage managers are no longer required to reserve a large amount of capacity as headroom on each storage device to accommodate growth. By eliminating over-provisioning, enterprises significantly increase storage efficiency and reduce storage costs.

Automate operations with easy, flexible scripting. Maestro’s powerful Remote Scripting Engine™ allows system administrators to create and execute sophisticated procedures using batch files or scripting languages. In this ways, Maestro’s functions can be customized for specific tasks, such as providing a platform for enterprise-wide information lifecycle management.

Achieve flexible, low-cost replication/mirroring. Attune Systems’ Adaptable Mirroring™ allows administrators to replicate select files between heterogeneous storage devices—even using different types of storage devices and different vendors. With Adaptable Mirroring, administrators can tune for higher throughput, greater availability, lower capacity utilization, or some combination of attributes, regardless of the attributes of the underlying share.

Easily achieve storage consolidation. By enabling storage capacity across multiple file servers to be presented as one file share or Maestro Volume Set, Maestro recaptures isolated storage space. Systems administrators can move files to balance capacity and performance in real time. As a result, there is little need to invest in timely and costly storage consolidation. If storage consolidation is needed to reduce the number of physical drives, storage administrators can easily move files during regular business hours with Maestro in the network.

Maximize performance for environments with many small files. Maestro Small File Acceleration™ reduces the latency involved in accessing directories with many small files.
